GOALS

The We Will Because We CanTM Cycling Club (a program component of The Cancer Community Renewal Project) has been established to:

1. Inspire cancer survivors, families and community members to participate in bicycling as a regular physical activity

2. Raise awareness about the benefits of cycling and other regular physical activity as a way to

  • Reduce the side effects of cancer treatments
  • Reduce the risk of cancer recurrence
  • Reduce the risk of ever receiving a cancer diagnosis

3. Provide social and supported activities that are both physically and emotionally challenging

4. Eliminate or reduce some of the logistical and mental barriers that may prevent survivors and community members from participating in bicycling as a regular physical activity

5. Increase the incidence and frequency of bicycling among cancer survivors and their supporters (family and community members)
