Carol Lundin
Carol Lundin, M.Ed MSW is an
educator, facilitator and social
worker who spent the last 25 years
using adventure and activity as a
way to help people heal from all
types of life challenges. In 1991
her sister Cathy died at the age
of 44 from breast cancer. It was
this tragedy and a bike ride in the
Tetons in 1999 that inspired Carol
to co-found the Cancer Community
Renewal Project as a way to provide
free healing and wellness programs
to cancer survivors.
In 2004 Carol was diagnosed with
breast cancer – at the age of 46- as
she was completing her Masters in
Social Work program at Portland
State University. Her personal
diagnosis, treatment and everlasting
status as cancer survivor- in
addition to her work through with
the Cancer Community Renewal
Project- has intensified her
commitment to the use of adventure,
exercise and other activity
based
wellness programs to create healing
opportunities for cancer survivors.
Carol also is the founder of REACH Beyond Programs, providing

people with cancer, In addition to

years. Gabrielle also has a
master's in social work from
Portland State University, and ISA

hiker and reader, she loves being
outdoors in quiet and majestic
natural surroundings whenever she
can. Her two “sweetie- pie pugs”
keep her busy going for walks in all
kinds of weather. Gabrielle’s
original research for her master's
degree was on the social effects of
having breast cancer. She believes
everyone with a serious illness and
their supporters should have access
to community resources of all kinds,
since "it takes a village" to
maintain a sense of wellbeing while
living with cancer. “I have deep
respect for massage and the power of
touch to bring joy, contentment, and
renewal at a basic physical level.
That is my goal in helping to
organize the massage and bodywork
resources of the Cancer Community
Renewal Project”.
