MOVING TOWARDS WELLNESS

SpiritEast GroupIn the Eastern Massachusetts community of Milton, The Cancer Community Renewal Project offers free exercise, yoga and massage to those women cancer survivors who wish to participate.

Moving Toward Wellness exercise classes and programs are offered at Fitness Unlimited (www.fitnessunlimited.com), the largest women’s fitness facility on the South Shore, through a community based collaborative partnership. This program is supported by funds raised locally through a variety of activities and awareness events.

The Cancer Community Renewal Project is proud to collaborate with Fitness Unlimited Health Club for women (www.fitnessunlimited.com) . This welcoming facility provides free time and space for both class and fundraising programs, in addition to membership discounts and other financial incentives for consistent active participation. Fitness Unlimited, in addition to Cancer Exercise Specialists- who develop individual training and group exercise programs- help eliminate the barriers which make it difficult for cancer patients as they try to heal during and after their medical treatments.

Programs and Services

Massage Massage offers a reconnection of mind, body and spirit to the cancer patient.  It provides relief from anxiety and tension, pain relief, and personal caring touch. Most of all it offers the cancer patient what they really need: a reaffirmation of their significance as a human being.
Yoga yachats yogaBenefits to the cancer patient include enhanced flexibility, Improved Circulation, Increased concentration.  Most Yoga programs include relaxation techniques which consistently help the cancer patient control physical symptoms, emotional stress and help them progress through their chronic illness.
Exercise Classes The benefits of regular exercise are clear and well documented.  These benefits are vital to the "well-being" of the cancer patient.  Activities such as mild aerobic and weight training programs (cycling, walking, x-country skiing, etc) will provide the cancer patient with regular and supervised physical activities that will promote improvement in stamina, tone and flexibility, stress reduction, and cardiovascular health.

Laury Hale

Laury HaleFitness Instructor and Trainer

Laury Hale is a Cancer Exercise Specialist and a Certified Personal Trainer based at Fitness Unlimited in Milton, MA. As a provider for the Cancer Community Renewal Project, Laury is able to offer individual training sessions and small group exercise classes in a comfortable and welcoming setting. Home-based programs are also available.

In addition to these specialties, Laury is a Spinning instructor (indoor cycling) and also teaches stability ball and muscle conditioning classes. "With a range of fitness opportunities available, it's an adventure to sort through what works for you. I like to help people connect the dots."
