MOVING TOWARDS WELLNESS
TO
REACH Beyond Cancer

Why

  • The benefits of exercise for cancer survivors is becoming widely recognized

    • Mild to moderate exercise has been shown to reduce the effects of fatigue and other symptoms directly related to cancer treatments.

    • Regular and moderate exercise (as little as 3 – 5 hours per week) can reduce the risk of recurrence by 50% in some breast cancer survivors.

    • Exercise boosts breast cancer patients sense of well-being and Quality of Life.

  • Minimal emphasis has been placed on physical activity as a method of rehabilitation or risk reduction

    • Unfortunately, fewer than 4% of health care providers recommend or encourage cancer survivors to continue or begin an exercise program.

  • Women who have received a cancer diagnosis benefit from the support of others coping with similar challenges, but most do not participate in traditional support group programs.

What

Long Term Goals
